Chatham Hall Partners with The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) to Expand Internship Opportunities
Ed Dougherty, Director of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives
Internship programs launch at Chatham Hall.
Chatham Hall is thrilled to announce a new partnership with The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in Danville, Virginia, an organization dedicated to driving economic transformation and innovation across southern Virginia.
Founded in 2002, IALR’s mission is to be a catalyst for economic transformation, and its vision is to see southern Virginia thrive as a region where everyone can live, work, and grow. With divisions in Advanced Learning, Applied Research, Manufacturing Advancement, and Economic Development, IALR is an incredible resource for connecting education and industry.
Through this collaboration, Chatham Hall students will gain hands-on learning experiences that bring classroom lessons to life. This January, many of our Juniors and Seniors will take part in local internships supported by IALR, gaining real-world experience, exploring potential career paths, and building professional skills.
In addition, IALR will lead a Teamships Cycle on campus, allowing students to tackle real business challenges from area partners. Working in small teams, students will learn how to collaborate, ask meaningful questions, and present innovative solutions, mirroring the kind of problem-solving they’ll encounter in future academic and professional settings.
This exciting partnership marks just the beginning. Together with IALR, we look forward to building even more opportunities for career readiness, interview preparation, and resume development, helping every Chatham Hall student step confidently into her future.
